Master Marco DiScipio

Senior Master DiScipio, 7th dan, has been a martial arts and Tang Soo Do practitioner since starting in 1982 with Grand Master Richard Byrne, founder of the American Tang Soo Do Association, the oldest Tang Soo Do Association in the United States. Senior Master DiScipio is recognized as a world class instructor and leader. He is the head of the ATA Technical Advisory Committee and travels worldwide teaching traditional martial arts and his extremely effective street practical self-defense.

Senior Master DiScipio opened his first school, Salem Street Studio, in 1991 and still teaches there regularly. Salem Street Studio is the American Tang Soo Do Association’s headquarters school and is the second oldest continually running TSD school in Massachusetts. His street combat applications have been utilized by Boston area law enforcement agents and his women’s personal protection workshops are widely attended wherever they are held.

In addition to adult instruction, Senior Master DiScipio has positively impacted the lives of thousands of children by introducing them to Tang Soo Do. Medford, Malden, Somerville, and Boston Public schools, YMCA, and Boys and Girls Clubs have all benefited from Master DiScipio’s innovative after school programs. Salem Street Studio also has a Massachusetts State Certified after school program created by Master DiScipio with the emphasis on leadership, self-discipline, and schoolwork along with Tang Soo Do training.  Master DiScipio is also a graduate of Lesley University in Cambridge where he has received a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Senior Master DiScipio throughout the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s has been a fierce tournament competitor having won multiple gold medals in fighting, breaking, and forms during those years. His students have continued the tradition, regularly winning gold in tournaments at all age and experience levels.   He is also an original member of the American Tang Soo Do Association’s elite demonstration team. In recognition of his continued dedication and commitment to Tang Soo Do and his superior technical ability making him an inspiration for others to follow, in 2012 Master DiScipio was inducted into the ATA Hall of Fame as well as receiving the Key to the City from the Mayor of Medford, MA.
